The Visual Exuberance Of Art Deco Jewelries

With regards to fashion accessories, costume jewelries are popular among a lot of women. These ornaments enable them to create unmistakable drama, catching the attention of everyone. Art deco designs are some of the most highly visually stunning of these types of jewelries, thanks to their usually bold geometric shapes, opulent colors and a lot of modernity.

Such type of design first came about in France in the 1920s. It was a time when pop culture was dominated by nightclubs, jazz music, movies, automobiles and flappers. Because it was also an era known to be the Machine Age, it was quite evident that technology had a huge impact when it came to the styles and shapes of jewelries worn by women back then.

In the following decades, the popularity of Art Deco jewelries spread internationally. Some of the earliest seen creations were those out of glass. The material was blown into various geometrical shapes, ranging from spheres to triangles. Insects, plants, flowers and Egyptian were famous themes. Colors were added, as well different types of precious stones.

Eventually, metal became a popular material of choice for these kinds of jewelries. Usually, designers back then preferred the likes of silver and gold as they were very easy to turn into all sorts of shapes. Hammering was the usual way of manipulating these materials. The fame of Art Deco jewelries waned after the World War II era. But nowadays, they are still around, although mostly used as costume jewelries. One look at the designs they sport and you can right away tell that they are inspired by that visual arts approach that came about in the 1920s. Many women go for them to show their experimental and fun sides. However, they are mostly worn to complete a particular getup and pull off a certain look wanted to be achieved.
